Economic advantage

Our target is to have our bags sell in price competition as well as quality competition with ordinary bags. We want to make the customer choice a "no-brainer".

benefits of bags that open "first time, every time"™

In addition to • better hygiene, the benefits include • saved time • saved wage costs • reduced bag discard (waste) rates • smoother workflow.

cut waste of time, wages, and product; improve workflow

At normal union rates, an employee's time costs the employer about $0.005/second. It is more than that if you include the cost of the space and equipment that go with the employee. But let's just stick with a time cost of $0.005/second for now.
Suppose that employee has to fuss for 4 seconds to open a deli bag, or a shopping bag, or a produce bag, or a trash bag, then that represents $0.02 per bag used. Not per hour or per day, but per bag used. Any bag that saves a company $0.02 is a bargain. Often, it's a better deal than getting an ordinary bag for free.

If the employee is wearing leather work gloves and has to remove them to open the bag, then the time loss with an ordinary bag may be 10 to 20 seconds ($0.05 to $0.10).
Additionally we should consider that any unwelcome workflow interruption reduces the efficiency of tasks that follow it, so there is another cost.

Suppose the employee is a checkout cashier using one of the bags for oversize or undersize items, which usually are not racked bags; and remember that not all retail stores use racked bags. That few seconds slows down customer throughput, and in effect increases the amount of floor space needed for checkout stations.

All progressive businesses work to eliminate wasted time. It would be an illusion to think that a few seconds here or there make no difference.
Any bag that wastes less time is worth more, so if it is priced similarly then it is a bargain.
Bags of SFT's Zbag and Xbag
groups are the best choice wherever a bag has to be opened by hand. In some cases they can do better than rack-mounted bags. Indeed, the next generation of rack-mounted bags may be a bag from our AUTOpack™ group.
